About the Book and Audience

Porous materials captivate a great deal of interest due to their high surface area to volume ratio and utilization in different areas like separation, catalysis, adsorption, ion conduction and filtration. A large variety of porous networks have been developed using lightweight elements by means of strong covalent bonding. Significant advancements have been achieved in the recent years with respect to tuning of structure and properties of these materials so as to attain advanced applications. In this respect, the main aim of the book is to assimilate the fundamental know how about the synthesis, properties as well as applications of a large range of recently developed and commercially viable porous polymer networks. The book is a valuable reference for polymer, chemical, biochemical and materials engineers, as well as practicing scientists and researchers in both academia and industry. It is also a useful resource for postgraduate university students in chemical, polymer and materials disciplines, along with interdisciplinary streams.

About the Editor

Dr. Vikas Mittal worked as Associate Professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering at The Petroleum Institute (now part of Khalifa University of Science and Technology), Abu Dhabi, UAE. Before, he was employed at BASF, Germany as polymer engineer and at SunChemical, UK as materials scientist. Dr. Mittal received his PhD degree in 2006 from Department of Materials and Department of Chemistry and Applied Biosciences at Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) Zurich, Switzerland. He has been an active researcher in the field of polymer nanotechnology and its applications in various streams. He has published more than 125 peer reviewed papers on these subjects, along with 35 edited and authored books. His research accomplishments have also resulted in many patents. In addition, he has published many book chapters and has also delivered numerous keynote and invited lectures at the international conferences.
