About the Book and Audience

Geopolymers are a new class of binder materials and are generally classified as pure inorganic geopolymers and organic containing geopolymers. Geopolymers are multi-functional materials with applications in a large variety of scientific and industrial disciplines. Significant advancements have been made in the recent years regarding tuning of structures to meet the required set of properties so as to achieve specific applications. In this respect, the book aims to summarize synthesis, properties and applications of various advanced geopolymer systems. The wealth of information about synthesis and commercialization of many commercially relevant geopolymers makes the book a valuable asset for a diverse audience ranging from materials, chemical and process engineers as well as practicing scientists in academia and industry to postgraduate university students in various engineering disciplines.

About the Editor

Dr. Vikas Mittal worked as Associate Professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering at The Petroleum Institute (now part of Khalifa University of Science and Technology), Abu Dhabi, UAE. Before, he was employed at BASF, Germany as polymer engineer and at SunChemical, UK as materials scientist. Dr. Mittal received his PhD degree in 2006 from Department of Materials and Department of Chemistry and Applied Biosciences at Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) Zurich, Switzerland. He has been an active researcher in the field of polymer nanotechnology and its applications in various streams. He has published more than 125 peer reviewed papers on these subjects, along with 35 edited and authored books. His research accomplishments have also resulted in many patents. In addition, he has published many book chapters and has also delivered numerous keynote and invited lectures at the international conferences.
