About the Book and Audience

Polymers have found applications in a wide variety of areas, such as energy, automotive, construction, transportation and electronics. In energy sector, different types of fuel cells represent an important class of sustainable energy sources which convert chemical energy directly into electrical energy. In recent years, a large number of advanced polymer systems have been synthesized to develop different fuel cell components, thus, resulting in enhanced properties and performance of such fuel cells. In this respect, the book aims to summarize structure-property correlations and applications of numerous functional polymer systems in fuel cells. The book is a valuable reference for polymer, chemical, electrical and materials engineers, as well as practicing scientists and researchers in both academia and industry. It is also a useful resource for postgraduate university students in different engineering disciplines.

About the Editor

Dr. Vikas Mittal worked as Associate Professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering at The Petroleum Institute (now part of Khalifa University of Science and Technology), Abu Dhabi, UAE. Before, he was employed at BASF, Germany as polymer engineer and at SunChemical, UK as materials scientist. Dr. Mittal received his PhD degree in 2006 from Department of Materials and Department of Chemistry and Applied Biosciences at Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) Zurich, Switzerland. He has been an active researcher in the field of polymer nanotechnology and its applications in various streams. He has published more than 125 peer reviewed papers on these subjects, along with 35 edited and authored books. His research accomplishments have also resulted in many patents. In addition, he has published many book chapters and has also delivered numerous keynote and invited lectures at the international conferences.
