About the Book and Audience

Nanocomposites generated using conducting polymers as well as conducting fillers have emerged as materials of high relevance owing to superior electrical, mechanical and thermal properties, which enable their use for a large variety of commercial applications. Recent advancements towards the expansion of the family of conducting polymer systems as well as functional conducting fillers have further revolutionized the interest in conducting composites. In this respect, the main aim of the book is to summarize the fundamental aspects related to synthesis and properties of various conducting composites, along with focusing on the wide spectrum of their applications. The book is a valuable reference for polymer, chemical, biochemical and materials engineers, as well as practicing scientists and researchers in both academia and industry. It is also a useful resource for postgraduate university students in chemical, polymer and materials disciplines, along with interdisciplinary streams.

About the Editor

Dr. Vikas Mittal worked as Associate Professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering at The Petroleum Institute (now part of Khalifa University of Science and Technology), Abu Dhabi, UAE. Before, he was employed at BASF, Germany as polymer engineer and at SunChemical, UK as materials scientist. Dr. Mittal received his PhD degree in 2006 from Department of Materials and Department of Chemistry and Applied Biosciences at Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) Zurich, Switzerland. He has been an active researcher in the field of polymer nanotechnology and its applications in various streams. He has published more than 125 peer reviewed papers on these subjects, along with 35 edited and authored books. His research accomplishments have also resulted in many patents. In addition, he has published many book chapters and has also delivered numerous keynote and invited lectures at the international conferences.
