About the Book and Audience

Metal organic frameworks (MOFs) possess many superior properties, such as uniform porosity, large surface area and pore volume, high thermal and chemical stability, non-toxic nature as well as easily tunable structure, which make them efficient candidates for different applications in gas storage and separation, drug delivery, chemical sensing, catalysis, among others. Owing to the array of metal centers and functional ligands, MOF materials provide the opportunity of developing new types of composite materials with enhanced performance. In this respect, the book presents the synthesis, properties and applications of a wide variety of MOFs developed in the recent years for diverse applications. The book is a valuable reference for polymer, chemical and materials engineers, as well as practicing scientists and researchers in both academia and industry. It is also a useful resource for postgraduate university students in chemical, polymer and materials disciplines, along with interdisciplinary streams.

About the Editor

Dr. Vikas Mittal worked as Associate Professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering at The Petroleum Institute (now part of Khalifa University of Science and Technology), Abu Dhabi, UAE. Before, he was employed at BASF, Germany as polymer engineer and at SunChemical, UK as materials scientist. Dr. Mittal received his PhD degree in 2006 from Department of Materials and Department of Chemistry and Applied Biosciences at Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) Zurich, Switzerland. He has been an active researcher in the field of polymer nanotechnology and its applications in various streams. He has published more than 125 peer reviewed papers on these subjects, along with 35 edited and authored books. His research accomplishments have also resulted in many patents. In addition, he has published many book chapters and has also delivered numerous keynote and invited lectures at the international conferences.
