About the Book and Audience

A large variety of degradation environments have varying degrees of effect on the properties and performance of polymeric materials. In order to sustain the usefulness of the polymeric materials over longer periods of time, it is of vital importance to understand the various ageing and degradation phenomena taking place when the materials are subjected to different degradation environments. In this respect, the current books presents deep insights into the ageing and degradation processes of various commercially important polymeric nanomaterials.

The book is a valuable reference for polymer, chemical and materials engineers, as well as practicing scientists and researchers in both academia and industry. It is also a useful resource for postgraduate university students in chemical, polymer and materials disciplines, along with interdisciplinary streams.

About the Editor

Dr. Vikas Mittal worked as Associate Professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering at The Petroleum Institute (now part of Khalifa University of Science and Technology), Abu Dhabi, UAE. Before, he was employed at BASF, Germany as polymer engineer and at SunChemical, UK as materials scientist. Dr. Mittal received his PhD degree in 2006 from Department of Materials and Department of Chemistry and Applied Biosciences at Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) Zurich, Switzerland. He has been an active researcher in the field of polymer nanotechnology and its applications in various streams. He has published more than 125 peer reviewed papers on these subjects, along with 35 edited and authored books. His research accomplishments have also resulted in many patents. In addition, he has published many book chapters and has also delivered numerous keynote and invited lectures at the international conferences.
