About the Book and Audience

Polymer nanomaterials have revolutionized the field of materials science owing to an accurate control on their structure-property correlations, which leads to their superior performance profiles. As a result, many polymeric nanomaterials have been developed over the years for a large number of specialty applications. These applications include gas and humidity sensors, bio-separations, solar cells, water treatment, drug delivery, tissue engineering, anti- corrosion coatings, EMI shielding, thermal insulation, oil spill clean up, etc. The book presents recent developments in the generation of a large variety of nanomaterials for these applications. The book serves as a comprehensive reference for polymer, materials, chemical and biochemical engineers. The information contained in the book is equally beneficial for practicing scientists, academicians and industrial researchers. The book is also a useful text for the postgraduate university students in various engineering disciplines.

About the Editor

Dr. Vikas Mittal worked as Associate Professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering at The Petroleum Institute (now part of Khalifa University of Science and Technology), Abu Dhabi, UAE. Before, he was employed at BASF, Germany as polymer engineer and at SunChemical, UK as materials scientist. Dr. Mittal received his PhD degree in 2006 from Department of Materials and Department of Chemistry and Applied Biosciences at Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) Zurich, Switzerland. He has been an active researcher in the field of polymer nanotechnology and its applications in various streams. He has published more than 125 peer reviewed papers on these subjects, along with 35 edited and authored books. His research accomplishments have also resulted in many patents. In addition, he has published many book chapters and has also delivered numerous keynote and invited lectures at the international conferences.
